FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 28, 2017, Akron, Ohio

Summit County Progressive Democrats (SCPD) will sponsor a progressive action forum on March 16, 2016. The purpose of the forum is networking among the growing number of progressive groups and activists in and around Summit County.  The forum will be held at United Steelworkers of America Local 2L, 501 Kelly Avenue in Akron, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

“The forum will provide a rallying point for people who are excited and energized to support progressive policies and who want to resist what the government is doing in Washington. That includes Democratic party activists, labor, folks in new and existing progressive groups and those who are mainly focused on particular issues,” said SCPD President Robert Gippin.

“We need to get to know each other and what we’re all doing, since collaboration will make the entire progressive effort stronger. Everyone is welcome, including Trump voters who have had second thoughts,” Gippin concluded.

Summit County Progressive Democrats is a grassroots political action committee formed after the 2004 election to work for progressive, democratic change at the local, state, and national level.  It has about 150 members.
